REA Group Chief Economist Nerida Conisbee says the Queensland government’s rental relief package is “causing the most angst at the moment”. State governments unveiled packages to help those who lost work amid the coronavirus pandemic, but Ms Conisbee said Queensland landlords were concerned they would be left without support. “In NSW if you don’t pay rent because of COVID-19 you do at some stage pay that rent back, but in Queensland there is no requirement to pay that rent back,” she said.
