Rio Tinto was hit with a “massive protest vote” against the remuneration report which saw executives responsible for the destruction of the Juukan Gorge get hundreds of millions in bonuses, according to Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood. “There was a remuneration report that saw senior executives no only take hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses plus also shares they had been awarded, these were executives who were held accountable by the company and the shareholders for the blowing up of the Juukan Gorge,” he told Sky News. “What happened yesterday is one of the largest protest votes against remuneration reports, 60.8 per cent of the shareholders voted against that report.”
