More people worldwide have reportedly died of COVID-19 so far this year than in 2020, with medical supply and vaccine shortages contributing to the deaths. Data collated by Johns Hopkins University has revealed 1.89 million people have died in 2021 exceeding the 1.88 million deaths reported in 2020. 3.7 million people have reportedly died of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic but experts say that figure is likely to be much higher.
