New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejikilian's pitch for states to redirect vaccines to southwest Sydney has been shut down at a crisis meeting of National Cabinet. Premiers have indicated they are not prepared to surrender their supply, instead prioritising Pfizer doses for their own residents. However, second doses of Pfizer in NSW will be pushed back to increase the number of people receiving their first jab. The prime minister says he offered the state Australian Defence Force support which would have seen troops on the ground in southwest Sydney to help contain the outbreak, but NSW declined.
