It’s been an emotional reunion for Australian woman Anna Coffey and her dying father after she spent more than a week trying to gain an exemption. The fully vaccinated 32-year-old was studying in New York but jumped on a plane within 48 hours of hearing her father had suffered a stroke in Melbourne and was then transferred to palliative care. Ms Coffey flew in to Sydney and was informed by authorities she would only be allowed to travel to Victoria if she secured a charter flight costing between $8,000 and $10,000. Charity Angel Flight reached out to Sky News earlier in the week after hearing about Anna’s story and offered to fly her cost free. Ms Coffey was required to wear strict PPE and adhere to all COVID guidelines, but said every moment was worth it.
