Black Smoke Billows Into La Palma Sky From Cumbre Vieja Volcano

Plumes of ash and gases billowed into the sky from the Cumbre Vieja volcano in La Palma, Spain, on the morning of Friday, November 5. The European Union’s Copernicus satellite program said the volcano’s lava flow covered 990.7 hectares (3.8 square miles), and destroyed 2,581 buildings by Thursday.
